Quintin Carrington

Quinton has brought the experience of his current profession
running
inkaddiction, a professional tattoo studio situated in northland to
bear in his latest work. The tattoo chair and portable TV from the
studio have been installed in the gallery and the TV displays images
of
tattooing taking place within the studio. A range of clients have their
work displayed in varying stages of completion. The ethnicity of the
clients and their choices of tattoo motifs highlight questions of ownership
and authenticity within the expanding language of contemporary tattoo
and we reflect upon the empty chair as a site of anticipation and
potential.
